Another Epistolary Blog Public Service Announcement

To my dearest darling readers:

The other night my boyfriend and I were discussing Sibyls.  More accurately, my boyfriend was discussing Sibyls, the phrophetesses of ancient Greece and Rome, and I was discussing Cybill Shepard, star of Moonlighting, Cybill, and more than one made-for-TV movie about Martha Stewart.  As usual, my half of the conversation was far more interesting than Jim's.

I hope this prevents any further confusion.

In other news, Care.com's holiday party is tonight.  I will play an integral part in the evening's entertainment and I'm getting a little nervous, especially given my recent bad review.  Lest I again be accused of being "under-practiced" and "drawn out," I will do my best to emulate this man, god of corporate party entertainment.  Wish me luck!

To my dearest darling readers:

Today I made an important discovery: Hollywoodland and The Black Dahlia are two different movies.  I did some research and I think I’ve finally got them straightened out.  Hollywoodland, based on the real-life murder of a Hollywood actor in the late fifties, follows the case’s investigator as he uncovers corruption and unexpected connections linking the murder to his own life.  The Black Dahlia, based on the real-life murder of a Hollywood actrESS in the late fORties, follows the case’s investigator as he uncovers corruption and unexpected connections linking the murder to his own life.  These two movies are about as different as First Daughter and Chasing Liberty.  And by that I mean vastly, vastly different.

Another Epistolary Blog Public Service Announcement

To my dearest darling readers:

Lemme break it down for you: Koontz, Kunitz, Kubrick.  No, I'm not conjugating a Latin verb; I'm talking about Dean Koontz, popular fiction writer, Stanley Kunitz, poet, and Stanley Kubrick, filmmaker.  Confusing, isn't it?

You see, the other day my boyfriend and I were discussing Kunitz.  More accurately, my boyfriend was discussing Kunitz and I was discussing Koontz.  "Lauren," my boyfriend said, "I can see how you might confuse Stanley Kunitz and Stanley Kubrick, but how could you possibly confuse Stanley Kunitz and Dean Koontz?"  I could tell my boyfriend was annoyed because he recently started doing this thing where he only addresses me by name when he's about to reprimand me.  For example: "Lauren, stop pouting.  I beat you at mini golf.  Deal with it."  So now whenever he says my name I just sort of tune out.

Anyway.  I have no idea what made my boyfriend think I would know who this Kunitz guy is.  Sometimes it's like he doesn't even know me, like when I'm about to buy a first class Amtrak ticket from Boston to New York and he says to me, "Why don't you take the Fung Wah Bus?"  And then I just have to say to him, "Hi.  I'm Lauren.  Have we met?"
